Swimming to Nome: Nikiski pool Idita-Swim program encourages fitness (Peninsula Clarion)
While dog mushers were heading toward the finish line in Nome, two swimmers in the Nikiski Pool's Idita-Swim program were paddling their way there as well -- with laps in the pool representing the miles of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

Olympians Matt Grevers, Rebecca Soni Set Records on Day 2 of 2010 Austin Grand Prix Swim Meet
Two pool records were broken Friday on the second night of competition at the 2010 Austin Grand Prix Swim Meet. Matt Grevers broke the pool record in the men's 100m back with a time of 53.05 while Rebecca Soni set the pool record in the women's 100m breast with a time of 1:06.43. The 2010 Austin Grand Prix Swim Meet, taking place at the University of Texas at Austin, concludes Saturday, March 6.

Overcoming Swimming Challenges - Second Time Ocean Racer Report

Once we arrived, I saw the sea conditions. My fears were surfacing as each wave crashed and rippled toward shore. I made the decision to be a good role model for my child and conquer some fears. I was the first one at sign up for the 750M swim. I greeted everyone and voiced my anxiety over the rough seas; many had the same retort - I no longer felt I was going to be the only open water swimmer afraid of what was to come.

The 2010 NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) men's and NCAA women's swimming and diving championship swim meets are among the many March Madness NCAA events. Don't forget about the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) and NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) college national championship swim meets.
