Olympian Matt Grevers took home two gold medals Saturday night on the second day of competition at the 2010 Southern California Grand Prix Swim Meet in Long Beach, Calif. Grevers won gold in both the men's 100y free and 200y back while Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps took home one gold in the 500y free, his only event of the night.

The American Swimming Coaches Association 2010 World Clinic is scheduled for 30 Aug through 5 Sep in Indianapolis, IN. The on-line schedule shows the many sessions for swim coaches available at the 2010 World Clinic. The offerings range from a course on "How to Write Workouts" to sessions on how World Champion swimmers train (presented by the coaches of swimmers like Rebecca Soni, Britta Steffen, Ryan Lochte, Paul Biedermann, and Gemma Spofforth). There is also a Speedo Swimmers Clinic as part of the event.

UNLV's new swimming pool to open Friday (Las Vegas Sun)
Kier Maitland prefaces the story by saying he’s from Canada. He knows cold weather. But Maitland, a UNLV junior and last year’s Mountain West Swimmer of the Year, never has experienced a winter quite as cruel as this year’s in Las Vegas. That’s because UNLV has regularly practiced outdoors at Henderson’s Multigenerational Center at 6 a.m., with temperatures as low as 30-degrees.
