A teenager is in a critical condition in hospital after he was pulled unconscious from a swimming pool in Melbourne's north-west today.

Swim Better By Training The Muscles That Help You Breath
Researchers at the University at Buffalo have shown that swimmers can improve their swimming endurance and breathing capacity through targeted training of the respiratory muscles. Subjects who followed a resistance-breathing training program improved their respiratory muscle strength and their snorkel swimming time by 33 percent and underwater scuba swimming time by 66 percent when compared to baseline values.

Chloe Sutton Wins Fourth Gold to Wrap up 2010 Missouri Grand Prix Swim Meet
The 2010 Missouri Grand Prix Swim Meet wrapped up Monday morning with timed finals of the women's 1500m free and the men's 800m free. USA Swimming National Teamer and 2008 Olympian Chloe Sutton won the women's 1500m free in 16:56.98, ahead of Taylor O'Brien (17:09.91) and Gillian Ryan (17:30.12).

Eric Shanteau Takes Two on Second Night of 2010 Missouri Grand Prix Swim Meet

Shanteau took the men's 200m IM with a time of 1:59.75, then returned to the pool a short time later to win the 200m breaststroke in 2:11.17. "To do the times I did tonight bodes really well for the rest of the summer," Shanteau said. "I'm really happy with how things have gone."

She was the only member of the U.S. National Team to win an event Friday at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.

Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte to Swim in 2010 Missouri Grand Prix Swim Meet 12-15 February
Olympic gold medalists Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, in addition to other members of the USA Swimming National Team, will compete at the USA Swimming 2010 Grand Prix Swim Meet, 12-15 February in Columbia, MO. The meet will take place at the Mizzou Aquatic Center, and is the third stop of the eight-meet USA Swimming 2010 Grand Prix Series that awards the overall winner a $20,000 grand prize.
