Swimming: Pool shark (Denton Record-Chronicle)
Mikaela Pyrch likes to say she was born on a pool deck. And for 15 years, the Ryan swimmer has pretty much been living on one. "Pool decks are where I have spent most of my time growing up," the energetic junior said. "That's where you can find me most of the time."

How Quickly Can You Teach a Child To Swim?

How fast can you teach a child to swim? Let me start by asking you these three questions: How fast does a child learn to walk? How fast does a child learn to talk? How quickly does a child learn to read?

Learning to swim is really not much different. It is a process, not an event. Can you remember when you were teaching your child how to walk or talk? Do you remember how encouraging and how excitable you were as your child made even baby steps of progress? I believe it's important that you give the same unconditional support and patience when your child is learning to swim. With that said, there are a variety of things to account for when determining how quickly you can teach a child to swim.

Swimming pool plan given go-ahead (This is West Country)
AN East Coker couple have been granted the green light to build an outdoor swimming pool at their home.

Swimming in Swaziland

Coach Don Heidary of Orinda Aquatics went on a trip to Swaziland, Africa to "talk about club development, staff training, parent structure, training plans, stroke drills, race strategy, to stand on the deck and assist with training groups... ...the reality was that they had little or no exposure to the world of swimming... ...conversations quickly centered around club survival, getting kids into a used swim suit (as opposed to their underwear), getting kids to the pool as most families do not have cars, surviving financially as most cannot pay, and just keeping children from drowning. There was no staff, parents, or finances to manage." Everyone involved in the swimming world needs to read Don's report, Swazi Swimming, Vision and Reality.
